Indie-rock and soul duo in Nashville, Bird and Byron consist of Columbus, Ohio-natives Blake Bergere(Bird) and Nick Lorenz(Byron). The two started making music together after college, recording their first songs in 2020 during the pandemic. The two grew up together in Ohio but never realized how serious the other was about music until after graduating from college. The band released their four song EP "Year after Year" in 2021 and have released four new singles in 2022.
With a distinct sound, their music has a chill vibe with strong raspy vocals perfect for an afternoon in a coffee shop or a stroll down a wooded path. Performing live all over the country, the two have taken to TikTok to promote their music like many others. With a following of 62.5K on the clock app they have gathered 128,645 monthly listeners on Spotify.
About two years ago, they started their “One Take Tuesday” project on Instagram. The duo now have over 80 one-take videos and have progressed from filming in a bedroom to having a small set with colored lighting. Although the two have only been at it a few years, they have documented their growth every step of the way on social media.
The two have recently shifted their focus from achieving personal success to rediscovering why they make music.
“Why do we make this music? Why does Bird go on stage and scream to the heavens? Why does Byron heave over his guitar? We do it for you, and for those that would've loved to see us do it. From here on out, we give you and those who have gone, our hearts and souls. When all is said and done, we wish to have nothing left, because it was all given to you and to the folks who aren't with us anymore. This is a journey of enlightenment, self realization, and light, so that one of these days, we can come to your town and hand our hearts to you.”
