As someone who is constantly looking for new artists, I spend a lot of time going down rabbit holes on Spotify.
Music has always been a huge inspiration for me in my artwork. When I spend hours in the ceramics studio, the music I listen to has a large impact on the design ideas popping into my head.
Here are a few new R&B artists I have in my current rotation:
Elyssa Plaza
Elyssa Plaza can take over a room with just her voice and her guitar.
Based in Toronto, she is an emerging Filipino R&B artist finding her way on TikTok. Her singing videos have garnered 212.4k followers and over 4.5 million likes. Plaza starting releasing music in 2019, but only has eight songs and an EP.
Her latest single “Anxiety” is a glimpse into a deeply personal moment in Plaza’s life.
Amaria
Amaria hit the ground running when she started releasing music in 2020, by 2021 she released her debut album “BitterSweet.” With millions of streams and all-star collaborations, she is consistently on Spotify’s Fresh Finds R&B playlist.
Check out her latest single “Get Away” and “Fading,” her recent collaboration with Elijah Fox.
Amber-Simone
After a full year without releasing music, Amber-Simone is preparing new projects to come in 2023.
This London artist is not only a talented musician, but flexes her producing skills on her latest EP “Black, No Sugar.” With a distinct voice and funky bass lines, Amber-Simone is going to do big things.
Check out “Potential” and the rest of the EP “Black, No Sugar.”
Fun Fact, the bass line to “Potential” came to Amber-Simone while she was in the shower.
