A sustainable designer and on-site tailor, Kerry Phelan creates unique garments with vintage materials.
Kerry Phelan is an accomplished designer and on-site tailor. Her work focuses on exploring new ways to repurpose materials such as vintage table linens and second-hand clothing using a zero waste process.
Kerry Phelan Designs strives to eliminate fashion’s negative impact on the environment by working in progression with the United Nations initiative for a more sustainable future. Materials of natural fibers such as linen, cotton, silk and various recycled textiles are staples of the brand.
Above are pieces from Phelan’s Shirley Collection, a collection of eccentric pieces made from furniture upholstery from the 1940s and 1950s, vintage handmade quilts, and embroidered tableware. The unique garments showcase handmade elements and historic methods used by women in embroidery, quilting, and trimming.
Phelan also works as an onsite tailor for fashion shows and events all over the country including many 2022 New York Fashion Week shows and even for Iggy Azalea’s Knicks Halftime Show vs the Celtics on October 20, 2021. Graduating from Syracuse University with a BFA in Fashion Design and a minor in Retail Management in 2019. Phelan has gone on to work with Theo James, Mariska Hargitay, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez and many more as an on-site tailor.
