This adorable indie band from Boston just released their latest single “All the Way Back.”
Divine Sweater, Meghan Kelleher (vocals), Sean Seaver (guitar, vocals, production), Chris Southiere (drums and vocals), Alex Goldberg (bass), and Stephen Lin (keys) released their first single “2x2” in 2018. A few singles and two albums later, the band are growing their audience. On Spotify alone, they had 2.7 million streams in 174 countries around the world in 2022.
The five friends started out playing shows around the Boston area, writing and producing their own music. Their first two albums “Human Love” and “Divine Sweater Presents: The Ten Year Plan” were written and produced by the band. This new single “All the Way Back” is their first with Better Company Records. Watch the music video here.
On Bandcamp, an online record store and music community, the band write, ““All The Way Back” is set in the high you feel after finally breaking free of a miserable situation. The narrator is full of blind, ecstatic hope for the future after realizing that nothing was truly holding them back in the first place. The song centers around a cinematic image of the narrator gazing up at the sun from under the water: “Looking up I thought that I saw heaven.” The track is a sign to quit your job, move to a new city, take that risk, and never look back.”
Kelleher’s vocals sweep above layered harmonies, guitar riffs, and fun bass lines, feeling right at home on any playlist alongside The Japanese House, WOAH, Wallows, and Her’s.
The band is a fun group of friends that love making music together and traveling while on tour. With new live shows coming up, Divine Sweater is playing at the Mercury Lounge this Saturday, Jan. 21.
