Will Heard, English singer/songwriter and painter had his first taste of widespread success in 2013. Featured on the deep house track “Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine)” by Klangkarussell, the song reached number three on the UK Singles Chart. Heard’s clean vocals add a layer of depth to the synths that make it perfect to sing in the car or dance to in the living room. Even now, the music video’s comment section is full of listeners reveling in nostalgia from 10 years ago.
Heard has collaborated and been featured on multiple projects and house tracks since then, while creating his own distinct sound. A combination of soul, jazz, and pop, Heard’s EP “Trust,” released in 2017, has over 14 million streams. The first track “I Better Love You” has been a top song on our playlists here at Actuality for years.
Although Heard took a break from releasing music, he put out a holiday song this December, “I’d Like You for Christmas.” Leaning into his jazz and R&B side, the harmonies and vocal runs are worthy of a stank face.
A visual artist as well as a musician, Heard is a painter. His work has cubist qualities with expressive lines and distorted perspective. He recently used a painting of his as the cover art for “I’d Like You for Christmas.”
Heard is not super active on social media but has been teasing the release of a new album for the past few years. Posted last month, he is excited to share that his first full length album will be released sometime in 2023.
“I’m excited to say my first official solo album is DONE! It is pure undiluted me - a body of work that I truly love and proudly stand by. I cannot wait to share it with you next year,” he writes in the caption.
