From ideas originating in the basements and bedrooms of Upstate New York to playing shows around New York City and Philly, Shallow Alcove effectively puts melodies to their inner monologues.
Fronted by Grace Krichbaum and Dan Harris, the band “combine stacked vocal harmonies, catchy guitar riffs, and diary-like lyrics to form a tender soundtrack to young adulthood.”
They released their latest single “Old Bones” last Friday. A song inspired by fleeting days and nostalgic memories, the band has said this is one of their favorite tracks. They write,

Krichbaum has a gallery wall of pictures, artwork, concert tickets, sticky notes, and important memories. The line “I feel like a ghost in a party hat” comes from a painting on that wall of ghosts wearing colorful party hats.
Shallow Alcove started releasing music in 2021, and put out their debut EP “Acting Tough.” Since then, they have gone on to play live shows around the Syracuse NY area and now roam from Philadelphia to NYC writing, recording, and performing. They recently played the Mercury Lounge at the beginning of February.
Incredibly talented and musically trained, Shallow Alcove has good bones and a fresh take on folk music. Their sound is perfect for long drives with the windows down and reminiscing about summer afternoons in the sun.
