There is nothing like making good music with friends.
Rikas have officially been making music together since 2018 but have known each other much longer. Sam Baisch (vocals/bass) and Ferdinand Hübner (vocals/drums) went to kindergarten together and eventually met Sascha Scherer (vocals/keyboard) and Chris Ronge (vocals/guitar) while playing on a local soccer team. The four began getting together for jam sessions covering bands like The All-American Rejects and Sum 41 when they were around 12, and quickly started to discover their own sound.
Their most recent single “Up All Night” is a funky indie-pop track with an original music video.
Growing up in Stuttgart, the quartet get their start by busking all around Europe. To ensure their sound would carry without any microphones, all of them would sing and they developed the perfect blend of tight harmonies. Taking inspiration from The Beatles and Beach Boys, they began writing songs that never featured just one lead singer.
They recently made their U.S. debut, attending the 2023 SXSW in Austin, TX, making new connections and building their audience in the states. They are excited to show their music to a new crowd, and after playing over 300 shows around Europe, Rikas are seasoned performers.
While they create original music, they are also incredibly involved with online campaigns and merchandise design. They have even said the online promotion campaigns take more time to create than the music. From designing shirts, records, caps, and bottles etc. each item is full of their quirky personalities.
After an eventful visit to Austin, TX, they are looking forward to their longest run of shows in November and December 2023. Click here for ticket information. For Rikas, live performances is what it’s all about. Ronge told PollStar,
