NYC artist Francis Aud started releasing music in 2017 with his first EP “Tender Things.” Since the release of that EP, he has moved away from retro-soul and began making what he calls “FONK™ MUSIC.”
With strong horns and funky bass lines, Aud’s soulful vocals soar on each track. He released five singles in 2020, taking advantage of time spent at home to write and record. “Without You,” released Jan. 3, 2020, is his most streamed song on Spotify with over 2 million streams. Written by a heartbroken Aud, this “fonky” track came out of his joy playing with his band.
Aud released two singles, “Selfish” and “Used To,” in 2022 in preparation for more music and maybe even an album coming in the near future.
Not only does Aud make “fonky” tunes, but he teamed up with his friend Matt Harvey to create children’s music. Aud has been playing and performing music for kids for years. Eventually embracing that he is the guy making animal noises and singing Old McDonald in the park, Aud and Harvey started creating hip hop songs for kids in August of 2022. Check them out on Instagram @mattanddanpresents and on Spotify Matt & Dan.
Their most recent song “Every Day” is a daily affirmation everyone should say. Aud writes on Instagram, “I can say with the utmost confidence that no better combination that exists than GRATITUDE and TRAP MUSIC 😤 💯 🔥”
With a consistent lineup of shows all around New York City, Aud loves performing live. Starting off the new year with a great show at the Sultan Room last Saturday, Jan. 21, he was joined by artist Black Jeans. For upcoming show dates click here.
